Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua attended the Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation and delivered a speech in Buenos Aires on Mar 20.

In his speech, Hu emphasized that China firmly supports multilateralism and the multilateral mechanism with the UN as its core, and resolutely safeguards the basic principles of South-South cooperation that respects sovereignty, equality and mutual benefit, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. It is hoped that this meeting will form a consensus and provide a solid foundation for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Hu pointed out that China is a firm advocate, active participant and important contributor to South-South cooperation. South-South cooperation is a common cause of developing countries. The areas of cooperation need to be continuously expanded. The mode of cooperation needs innovation and change. South-South cooperation is the complement of North-South cooperation instead of a substitute. China will continue to assume international responsibilities that are compatible with its own development stage and actual capabilities, and work with countries to build a community of shared future for mankind.

During the conference, Hu also met with Achim Steiner, the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program.
