On November 23 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Nagoya.

Wang Yi noted that Africa has China's full support in getting out of the "underdevelopment trap". Lack of financial resources is the biggest challenge in Africa's development, with the annual shortage of $100 billion in infrastructure investment. China's infrastructure projects in Africa generate over $50 billion worth of benefits for the continent every year. For instance, the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway project helped to create nearly 50,000 local jobs and contributed about 1.5 percent to Kenya's economic growth. China's cooperation with Africa is an example of South-South cooperation as well as mutual assistance between friends and brothers. China attaches importance to debt issues. We help African countries to foster better capability of debt management, and we provide necessary support to them when they are in difficulties. China and Africa achieved positive progress in Belt and Road cooperation. The Belt and Road Initiative, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Agenda 2063 and African countries' development strategies are highly complementary and mutually reinforcing, forming great synergies for common development.
