President Xi Jinping exchanges congratulations with King of Saudi Arabia on 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties

President Xi Jinping recently exchanged congratulatory messages with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Saudi Arabia.

Xi welcomed the steady development of China-Saudi Arabia relations and the fruitful, all-round bilateral cooperation over three decades of diplomatic ties. He noted that since the launch of a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, the two countries have seen rapid growth of relations. By jointly fighting COVID-19, China and Saudi Arabia have safeguarded the health and well-being of the two peoples and contributed to regional and global public health security, setting a prime example of solidarity and mutual assistance.

Xi highlighted the great importance he attaches to China’s relations with Saudi Arabia, and expressed readiness to work with King Salman in this 30th anniversary year and beyond to foster greater synergy between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, add strategic substance to the relationship and make progress in the new era to the benefit of both sides.

King Salman applauded the great development of China-Saudi Arabia ties across the board over the past 30 years, which spoke volumes about the profound friendship and strategic relations between the two countries. He expressed readiness to take forward this special relationship to serve the common interests of both nations. Saudi Arabia shares common or similar views with China on COVID-19 response, and will work with China to fight the pandemic.
