
Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Xu Haoliang, United Nations under-secretary-general and associate administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), on July 1.
Noting that the UNDP is an important partner of the CIDCA, Zhao expressed the CIDCA's readiness to enhance communication and strengthen cooperation with the UNDP. He emphasized that the CIDCA is willing to leverage China's big market and advanced technologies and collaborate with China's partners to enable more and more people around the world to enjoy the fruits of Chinese modernization. Together, he added, the two sides will jointly advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Xu praised China's development achievements and expressed gratitude for China's steadfast support for the UN. He noted that the UNDP will leverage its advantages to cooperate with the CIDCA in climate change response, renewable energy, development financing and post-disaster reconstruction, in a bid to introduce China's development philosophy, experience and technologies to more developing countries and contribute more to sustainable development.
