From 8 to 11 July, the Chinese Medical Expert Group on Ebola Prevention and Control visited Uganda upon concluding its Ebola response mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). During the visit, the experts held a dedicated consultation meeting with officials from the Ministry of Health of Uganda, and toured the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), two institutes under Makerere University—the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) and the Lung Institute (MLI), and the African Continental Ebola Incident Management Support Team (IMST). Drawing upon China's practical experience gained from Ebola response operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the participants held in-depth discussions on advancing China-Uganda medical and health cooperation, with a view to lending robust support to Uganda's efforts to defeat Ebola and other communicable diseases.
