CIDCA chairman visits Kyrgyzstan

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), visited Kyrgyzstan from July 14 to 16.

During the trip, he met with Erlis Akunbekov, deputy prime minister and minister of water resources, agriculture and processing industry of Kyrgyzstan, and held talks with Kyrgyz Finance Minister Ruslan Suynaliev.

Affirming that China and Kyrgyzstan are close neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, good friends and good partners, Chen noted that in the past 34 years since their diplomatic relations were established, the two countries have deepened political mutual trust, reaped fruitful results from their cooperation across all sectors and increased people-to-people exchanges.

Chen emphasized that under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of China and Kyrgyzstan and through their personal commitment to advancing bilateral ties, the comprehensive strategic partnership in a new era between the two nations has continued to reached new levels, ushering in a new phase of the China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future featuring good neighborliness, friendship and shared prosperity.

Highlighting the three meetings held by the two heads of state last year that have set the fundamental guiding principles for the future growth of bilateral ties, Chen expressed the CIDCA's readiness to implement the crucial consensus reached during these meetings. He stressed formulating well-structured development cooperation plans to coordinate the implementation of landmark projects and "small yet smart" livelihood projects. According to him, the cooperation will prioritize infrastructure construction, connectivity, healthcare, agriculture and green development, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance the well-being of people on both sides.

The Kyrgyz side underscored that their country attaches great importance to developing relations with China and regards this as a priority in its foreign policy, adding that guided by the strategic vision of the two heads of state, Kyrgyzstan-China relations have hit an all-time high.

Noting Kyrgyzstan's sustained, rapid economic and social development in recent years, they expressed gratitude for China's selfless assistance and invaluable support. They also expressed willingness to work with China to align the development strategies of the two nations, deliver more tangible outcomes from practical cooperation, and benefit both countries and their peoples.

While in Kyrgyzstan, Chen inspected a range of China-aided development cooperation projects. These include Chinese language schools, Luban Workshops, and firefighting and rescue equipment, as well as facilities and equipment provided for the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit that will be held in Bishkek, the country's capital.
