CIDCA vice-chairman addresses opening ceremony of 2026 Tongzhou Global Development Forum

On Oct 11, Liu Junfeng, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Tongzhou Global Development Forum and delivered a speech.

Liu noted that this year marks the fifth anniversary of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and also the APEC "China Year".

He stressed that China actively carries out in-depth development cooperation with the international community, including economies in the Asia-Pacific region, to implement the GDI and advance the building of an open, dynamic, resilient and peaceful Asia-Pacific community through concrete actions.

Liu emphasized that, remaining firmly committed to taking concrete action to advance pragmatic cooperation, China creates new opportunities for Asia-Pacific development through new achievements of its modernization, advances coordinated regional development through greater openness and connectivity, enhances regional security resilience through shared risk management, boosts effectiveness of regional governance through capacity building, and improves the well-being of people across the region through benefit sharing, all in a bid to continuously consolidate the foundation for building the Asia-Pacific community.

He expressed China's readiness to closely align its own development with that of the Asia-Pacific community, and press ahead with the implementation of the four global initiatives, including the GDI, together with all its Asia-Pacific partners. He added that these joint efforts will foster and share a promising future of peace and prosperity for the Asia-Pacific, and steadily advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

The 2026 Tongzhou Global Development Forum was hosted by Renmin University of China, under the theme "China's Development and the Asia-Pacific Community". It seeks to explore how countries in the Asia-Pacific region can deepen mutual trust and pursue common prosperity in such fields as development, security and governance, so as to contribute wisdom and strength to fostering an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future.
