Wang Yi Meets with Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan via Video Link

On October 14, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan via video link.

Wang Yi said, China and Indonesia enjoy profound friendship and solid mutual trust. Under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, China-Indonesia relations have maintained a strong development momentum, with even closer practical cooperation. The two sides should continue to be guided by the consensus of the two heads of state, allow the high-level dialogue cooperation mechanism to play an important role driven by politics, economy, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and maritime affairs, and push the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Indonesia ahead in the general direction of jointly building a community with a shared future in solid steps, so that the all-round cooperation between both sides can reach a new level and bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Noting that working in solidarity to defeat the pandemic remains a top priority in China-Indonesia relations at present, Wang Yi said, China welcomes Indonesia to purchase more COVID-19 vaccines from China, supports Indonesia in building a regional vaccine production center, stands ready to promote vaccine research and development cooperation among and development of "upgraded" vaccines by enterprises of both countries via multiple technical routes, and hopes enterprises of the two countries cooperate in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients. China is willing to work with Indonesia to jointly oppose the stigmatization of the COVID-19 pandemic and politicization of origins tracing.

Wang Yi said, the bilateral trade volume between China and Indonesia has so far this year increased sharply. China is willing to continue to deepen economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two sides, and work together for the two countries' more fruitful cooperation in major Belt and Road projects, including the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor, and the Two Countries Twin Parks. China attaches importance to strengthening cooperation with Indonesia in infrastructure, digital, 5G and green economy, and will continue to encourage Chinese enterprises to actively participate in Indonesia's industrialization process and further expand market access for Indonesian products exported to China. The two sides should take the new round of meeting of the Technical Committee on Maritime Cooperation as an opportunity to build maritime cooperation into another crucial growth engine for mutually beneficial cooperation between both countries.

Luhut said that as an independent and developing country, Indonesia firmly pursues the policy of being on good terms with China and endorses the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind. Indonesia and China are good friends with a high degree of mutual trust that uphold equality and mutual benefit. Indonesia thanks China for taking the lead in supporting the country's COVID-19 response and providing vigorous support and assistance for its economic development. Indonesia expects that the two sides continue to step up cooperation in vaccine research, development and production, speed up the Belt and Road cooperation, and promote the completion of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway as scheduled and the continued new progress in such major projects as the Two Countries Twin Parks. Chinese enterprises have played an active role in helping Indonesia achieve green development, and more are welcomed to invest in Indonesia.

The two sides agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges between China and ASEAN countries and push for further quality improvement and upgrade of China-ASEAN strategic partnership.

Both sides are on the alert for and against acts that trigger the risk of nuclear proliferation and division in the region, and stress that all parties should work together to maintain regional peace and stability. The two sides also agreed to intensify coordination in promoting regional cooperation and tackling climate change.

Regarding the holding of the G20 presidency by Indonesia in 2022, Wang Yi said, China supports Indonesia's hosting of the 17th G20 Leaders' Summit and expects the summit to deliver positive outcomes in supporting and practicing multilateralism, boosting cooperation in economic recovery and safeguarding the legitimate interests of emerging markets and developing countries.
