CIDCA vice-chairman meets with ICRC director general

On May 8, 2024, Vice-Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Zhao Fengtao met with Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Pierre Krähenbühl, with whom he held an in-depth exchange of views on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Zhao said that humanitarianism is the greatest consensus that can unite the different civilizations of mankind. China has always attached great importance to and actively participated in international humanitarian assistance. The CIDCA has always adhered to the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and is dedicated to peace and development of human society, he said, expressing his willingness to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with the ICRC to cope with humanitarian crisis and jointly implement the Global Development Initiative.

Krähenbühl spoke highly of the CIDCA's contributions in international development cooperation and the humanitarian undertakings. Noting that the ICRC has a long history of cooperation with China, he expressed willingness to strengthen policy dialogues with the CIDCA, expand project cooperation for closer partnership, and make greater contributions to the wellbeing of humanity.
