
Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Qu Dongyu, director-general of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), on May 14.
Chen said that achieving food security is a crucial goal of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and a key area of the China-proposed Global Development Initiative (GDI).
Chen stressed that China is willing to deepen cooperation with the FAO to advance the implementation of the GDI and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, so that the experience, technologies and products in China's agricultural modernization can benefit other developing countries, and that both side can jointly address global challenges in agricultural development and food security.
For his part, Qu expressed his gratitude to China for its strong support.
He also expressed his willingness to enhance institutionalized cooperation with the CIDCA, deepen project-based cooperation and strengthen exchanges and mutual visits.
In this way, the both sides can leverage their respective advantages to promote the sustainable development of global agriculture, he added.
