Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Elliott Harris, assistant secretary-general for economic development in the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), at the UN Headquarters in New York on October 29.

The two sides exchanged views on international development cooperation.

Harris said that China is an important partner of the UN. China's cooperation with other developing countries is unique, sincere and not imposed upon others. The UN DESA is willing to strengthen cooperation with China,  provide policy advice for China and share successful development experiences.

Deng spoke of the overall situation of China's foreign aid, saying that China does not attach any political conditions to foreign aid and does not interfere in the internal affairs of recipient countries. The purpose of foreign aid is to promote economic and social development of the recipient countries and enhance their independent development capability.

Deng also introduced assistance measures announced by China on major international occasions and their implementation results. He said that China is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the UN development agencies to promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and promote the building of a community of shared future for mankind.
