China International Development Cooperation Agency spokesperson Li Ming announced on Dec 2 that the Chinese government has decided to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka at the request of its government.
The assistance includes $1 million in cash and 10 million yuan ($1.41 million) worth of emergency relief supplies, such as life jackets, tents, blankets and sheets.
Sri Lanka has recently been hit by severe flooding and landslides, causing heavy casualties and property losses. The aid will be delivered to Sri Lanka as quickly as possible to support its disaster relief.
