Wang Xiaotao, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, executive director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women on Dec 13.
They exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation in international development.
Ngcuka said that UN Women’s main task is to promote gender equality, empower women and support women's projects in UN member states. UN Women and the CIDCA have cooperated in areas such as environmental health, women's education and training, energy accessibility, and climate-smart agriculture to extend Chinese experiences to other developing countries.
Wang said that China's foreign aid has long been concerned about gender equality and supports women's empowerment in developing countries. China will continue to help other developing countries promote gender equality through multi-bilateral channels, learn from each other's experiences, and enhance cooperation to promote the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
