Chen Dong, the Chinese Ambassador to Central Africa, and Minister of Economic Planning and Cooperation of Central Africa Felix Moloua signed the handover certificate for a Chinese government funded project on Feb 20 that was meant to help residents of 103 villages in Central Africa watch satellite TV programs.

At the ceremony, Moloua, on behalf of the Central African government, thanked China for its long-term selfless economic assistance, saying that the “Access to satellite TV for 10000 African villages” project is conducive to enhancing the Central African people's understanding of and support for the government, alleviating the social crisis in Central Africa and resolving the regional development imbalance issue. It is believed that with the signing of the Central Africa peace agreement, with the strong support of China, the peaceful economic and social reconstruction of Central Africa will be further accelerated.

Chen said that China is actively implementing the results of last year’s Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. The implementation of the“Access to satellite TV for 10000 African villages” project can effectively promote news communication as well as information connectivity in Central Africa, and accelerate regional integration and development, helping Central Africa understand the world and the world understand Central Africa. China takes the signing of the Central Africa peace agreement as an opportunity to continue to deepen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of their peoples.

The “Access to satellite TV for 10000 African villages” project was an initiative of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2015. The aim is to enrich the cultural life of African people and promote cultural exchanges between China and Africa.

The project was officially launched on Feb 28, 2018. After planning, communication, coordination, selection of villages, site survey and construction and installation, it was finally completed on Dec 11, 2018 and was accepted after checking.
