Wang Xiaotao, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore, who had been invited to Beijing to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, on Apr 24.
They exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the field of foreign aid.
Fore said that the two organizations have cooperated closely in emergency humanitarian and development assistance in the past year, which UNICEF highly appreciates. UNICEF will strengthen cooperation with the CIDCA and is willing to share its experience.
Wang said that China has worked closely with UNICEF under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund to provide assistance to women and children in other developing countries and achieved positive results. UNICEF is an important partner of the CIDCA, and the two sides have similar ideas and broad prospects for cooperation. The CIDCA is willing to strengthen communication with UNICEF, deepen cooperation, jointly promote the construction of the Belt and Road, and implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
