CIDCA vice-chairman meets with UNFPA executive director

Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Natalia Kanem, executive director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), who was in Beijing to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, on Apr 26. They exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the two sides.

Kanem congratulated Zhang on the first anniversary of the establishment of the CIDCA. She said that the UNFPA is committed to achieving equal rights for women and adolescents and improving public health. The UNFPA is willing to become a close and reliable partner with the CIDCA, and benefit the people of developing countries.

Zhang said that China's foreign aid has always paid attention to gender equality and maternal and child health, and has improved the well-being of women and children by helping to build women and children hospitals and women's vocational training centers, and providing clinical services for women. The CIDCA is willing to work with international organizations, including the UNFPA, to help other developing countries achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
