Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Maimunah Mohd Sharif, executive director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), who was in Beijing to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, on Apr 25.

They exchanged views on future cooperation.

Sharif said that UN-Habitat is concerned with housing, urban planning and management, urban and rural environment and infrastructure. It aims to improve human habitation through capacity building, urban development guidelines and infrastructure development, and enhancing habitats against various types of disasters. UN-Habitat hopes to carry out pragmatic cooperation with the CIDCA through tripartite cooperation and joint research.

Zhou said that China's foreign aid has always paid attention to the improvement of people's well-being in developing countries. Through the implementation of infrastructure construction, technical assistance and provision of materials, it has played a positive role in improving the living conditions of the population in developing countries.

The CIDCA is willing to work with UN-Habitat to explore the possibility of exchange of experience and tripartite cooperation in the areas of housing, urban planning and capacity building in the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative to jointly promote the development of human settlements in developing countries.
