The launching ceremony of an information system upgrade project of the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce, initiated with China’s aid, was held in Vientiane, Laos, on May 21.
Wang Qihui, counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Laos, delivered a speech at the launching ceremony. Laos' Deputy Industry and Commerce Minister Somchith Inthamith attended the ceremony.
The project will last for 20 months and will upgrade the computer facilities of the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce, install a remote video conferencing system, develop electronic file system and conduct information technology training for technicians in Laos.
The project will provide convenient, fast and easy-to-manage public services for the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce, promote information sharing between the central and local governments of Laos, and enhance its independent development capability in data processing.
