CIDCA vice-chairman visits Zambia

Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), led a delegation to Zambia from Jun 12 to 15.

Zhang held working meetings with Acting Secretary to the Treasury of Zambia Emmanuel Mulenga Pamu and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Zambia Amb. Chalwe Lombe. Zhang signed an exchange of letters on cooperation with the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development of Zambia.

Zhang said that China-Zambia friendship has a long history and the two countries have carried out fruitful cooperation under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on the principle of sincerity, friendship, equality and mutual benefit.

The two meetings between the heads of state of the two countries pointed out the direction for the relations between the two countries. China is willing to work together with Zambia to further deepen the pragmatic cooperation between the two sides in various fields and promote the smooth implementation of the outcome of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Zambia. China will jointly promote the construction of the Belt and Road with Zambia.

The Zambia side said that China is a sincere friend and partner of Zambia and has provided generous assistance to Zambia for a long time, making important contributions to Zambia's economic and social development. Zambia is willing to strengthen the friendly cooperation with China at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels and push bilateral relations to new heights.

During the visit, Zhang also attended the completion ceremony of the “Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages” project in Zambia, and observed cooperation projects such as the agriculture demonstration center, a corn flour processing plant, Lusaka International Airport and Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital. Zhang also met with representatives of the local people who took part in the training programs organized by China.
