Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang, and Egypt’s Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abd El-Ghaffar signed and exchanged notes for the equipment project of the Egyptian-Chinese Faculty of Applied Technology at Suez Canal University in Cairo on July 21.
Liao said that this is the first intergovernmental agreement signed since he became the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt. It is also the first time that China and Egypt have agreed to cooperate in vocational and technical education, and opened new models for future work together in this field.
Under the guidance of a comprehensive strategic partnership, China-Egypt cooperation is increasingly characterized by strategic comprehensive strategy and innovation. In order to further deepen the strategic link between the Belt and Road Initiative and the “2030 Vision”, and implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries on strengthening cooperation in the field of vocational education, China will continue to help young Egyptians improve their professional skills through government and enterprise cooperation and help Egypt's social productivity development and industrial restructuring to benefit the peoples of both countries.
Nasr said that President Abdel Fattah al Sisi is highly concerned about the construction of the vocational education system, and wishes to cultivate the strength of the youth and meet the needs of the talent market required for modernization. The Egyptian-Chinese Faculty of Applied Technology is an international cooperative educational institution jointly established by Suez Canal University, Beijing Information Technology College and the MEK Foundation. The Chinese government provided the faculty with educational equipment. It is an important embodiment of the traditional friendly relations between Egypt and China. Egypt is willing to deepen development cooperation with China in anticipation of fruitful results in the future.
El-Ghaffar emphasized that it is imperative to carry out international cooperation in vocational education. Egypt is willing to learn from the experience of Chinese vocational education, cultivate high-quality applied engineering and technical personnel, and help promote economic and social development.
After the signing ceremony, Liao held talks with Sahar Nasr and exchanged views on the progress of China-Egypt investment and development cooperation.
