The 2019 overseas training course on rice planting technology, taught by Chinese rice experts, successfully concluded on Sept 20, 2019 in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.
Wan Li, Chinese Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, Gaoussou Toure, minister of Rice Promotion in Côte d'Ivoire, and Yacouba Dembélé, director of the National Office for Rice Development, attended the ceremony.
Forty trainees received the certificate of completion.

Started on Aug 5, this year's training course has three sessions, each consisting of 40 trainees studying for 15 days. Four Chinese rice experts gave lectures on site at the farmlands. The participants were representatives from the rice planting industry of Cote d'Ivoire.

The training course is significant to the development of the rice planting technology in Côte d'Ivoire, said Toure, adding that the trainees, having learned the advanced Chinese rice planting technology, will contribute to the agricultural development of Côte d'Ivoire.
He pointed out that the two countries have made fruitful achievements in agricultural cooperation, and he hopes that more and more rice growers in Côte d'Ivoire will benefit from it in the future.

Through the training course on rice planting technology, many rice growers in Côte d'Ivoire have mastered Chinese advanced rice planting technology and have also further deepened their understanding of Chinese history and culture, said Wan, added that he hopes the trainee will pass on the skills they have learned to others and realize the goal of self-sufficiency in rice for Côte d'Ivoire in the near future.

Wan said that China is willing to continue to deepen friendly cooperation in various fields with Côte d'Ivoire, expand the conjunction between the Belt and Road initiative and the development strategy of Côte d'Ivoire, and push bilateral relations to a new level.
The training course is rich in content and the participants learned a lot, said one representative trainee, adding that the content of the seminar will be shared with other rice growers to promote technological exchange and progress.

Since 2016, the training course has been successfully given four times to a total of more than 270 trainees.
