The ground-breaking ceremony of China-aided Kazungula Primary School was held on Oct 15, in north Botswana's Kasane. It is the fourth Botswana primary school project aided by the Chinese government.
Zhao Yanbo, Chinese ambassador to Botswana, said that China and Botswana have a long history of cooperation in education. By the end of this September, 1,454 Botswana people had benefited from Chinese government scholarship and other training projects.
Frans Van Der Westhuizen, minister of Local Government and Rural Development of Botswana expressed his gratitude for China’s aid in his speech at the ceremony.
The primary school is expected to hold 560 students as its completion which will effectively improve local education conditions.
Nearly 350 people from the China and Botswana sides attended the ground-breaking ceremony, where Botswana artists performed traditional local dances to express their gratitude to China.
