CIDCA vice-chairman meets with UNDP Official, signs agreement to provide assistance to Turkmenistan

Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Mourad Wahba, associate administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Beijing on Nov 8. 

They exchanged views on strengthening mutual cooperation, and signed an agreement to provide assistance to Turkmenistan via the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund. The agreement is aimed at further enhancing the working capabilities of people with disabilities in Turkmenistan and improving the environment in their workplace through providing vocational training and modernizing local enterprises.

Mourad Wahba thanked China for its consistent support to the UNDP and its noticeable contributions to the development of global affairs. He said that the UNDP attaches great importance to cooperation with China and is willing to promote collaboration between China and other participating countries on the construction of the Belt and Road, help more nations benefit from China's experience in its impressive development and contribute to global sustainable development.

Zhang said that China and the UNDP have cooperated soundly in assisting other countries through the China-proposed South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund, which has been applauded by the recipient nations and their peoples. He continued that the CIDCA will further strengthen its cooperation and exchanges with the UNDP and work together to implement the Belt and Road Initiative and ensure the realization of the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
