CIDCA vice-chairman meets with EU official

Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Pierre Amilhat, director for Asia, Central Asia, Middle East/Gulf and the Pacific at the European Commission's Department for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO), who came to China to attend a consultation on China-EU international development cooperation, on Nov 12, 2019.

Amilhat said that both the EU and China play an important role in international development cooperation. The EU attaches great importance to policy exchanges between the EU and China in international development cooperation, and hopes to strengthen communication, enhance understanding, and actively explore tripartite cooperation to jointly implement the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda with China.

Zhang stressed that China and the EU are both important participants in the field of international development cooperation. The China-EU director-general level consultations on international development cooperation are an important action by which the two sides can implement the consensus reached by their leaders. It is hoped that through this consultation, they will further enhance mutual understanding and mutual trust, promote pragmatic cooperation on the basis of mutual understanding, and promote the cause of global sustainable development.

Nicolas Chapuis, the European Unions ambassador to China, also attended the event.
