Awards ceremony of the essay contest 'China in My Eyes' held in Mauritius

On Dec 20, the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius held a reception for participants received training in China in 2019 and the winners of the essay contest “China in My Eyes”.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Gongyi, addressed the ceremony. He thanked the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms of Mauritius and the trainees for their active cooperation and reviewed the human resources cooperation between the two countries. In 2019, a total of 489 Mauritius people went to China for training, which was among the highest numbers in Africa.

The embassy has organized a series of celebrations to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, including the essay contest themed "China in My Eyes". The contest was warmly welcomed by trainees and international students with 132 essays being sent to the embassy .

In the future, China and Mauritius will continue to promote cooperation in human resources and make bilateral training programs a highlight of their cooperation, seeing it as an important platform for enhancing understanding.

Teeruthraj Hurdoyal, Mauritius minister of public services, administrative and institutional reforms, thanked the Chinese government for its long-term support. China and Mauritius have always been committing to carrying out all-round cooperation covering economic, social and scientific and technological fields, particularly in human resources

By selecting officials to participate in Chinese training, Mauritius has improved the quality of officials, he said, added that the training also plays an extremely positive role in capacity building of the Mauritius public sector. 

The minister expressed his wishes that the two sides will continue to strengthen human resources development cooperation and send more trainees to China. He also called on Mauritius officials to take advantage of training opportunities, learn from China’s economic development experience, and disseminate knowledge and friendship after returning from China.

Representatives of the participants trained in China and winners of the essay contest delivered thanks to the Chinese government for providing training opportunities. They also mentioned that their trip to China enabled them to learn new knowledge, broaden their horizons, and gain friendship. 

At the awards ceremony, the guests presented certificates and prizes to the essay contest's winners, and encouraged them to strengthen cooperation between China and Mauritius, apply what they have learned in China to the actual work and contribute to Mauritius’ socioeconomic development.
