China provides port and airport security-check equipment to Antigua and Barbuda

On Dec 6, 2019, Sun Ang, Chinese ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, signed handover certificates of China-aided port and airport inspection equipment with Gaston Browne, prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda.

In his speech, Sun spoke highly of the development of bilateral relations, saying that the current relationship between the two countries is at a stage of rapid development, and that cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. 

The donation of port and airport security-check equipment to Antigua and Barbuda will meet the urgent needs of the country and its people, and provide basic guarantees for its national security and stable economic and social development, said Sun.

Sun noted that China's assistance to developing countries within its capability is the embodiment of China's fundamental diplomatic purpose, and it is also a step to build a community of shared future and uphold justice while pursuing shared interest. China is willing to continue to work closely with Antigua and Barbuda and make joint efforts for the prosperity and development of the two countries.

For his part, Browne appreciated the Chinese government and its people's long-term valuable support for the economic and social development of Antigua and Barbuda, and said that China's assistance this time once again proves that China is the most important partner and the most trusted friend of Antigua and Barbuda.

The security of the Antigua and Barbuda customs has been at a low level for a long time. The security-check equipment provided by China will significantly improve the efficiency of its customs' detection of imported goods, strengthen the capability of the Antigua and Barbuda government to combat crimes such as smuggling and drug trafficking, and contribute to the social and economic development of Antigua and Barbuda, said Browne.

He stressed that Antigua and Barbuda highly recognizes the concepts of peaceful development, win-win cooperation and a community of shared future for mankind advocated by China, and is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China to promote new progress in cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
