Chinese experts share COVID-19 experience with Venezuela

Chinese anti-pandemic experts held a conference with Venezuelan health officials and experts on March 31.

Venezuela Health Minister Alvarado said that Venezuela adopts China’s measures in pandemic prevention and patient treatment and achieves effective results. 

As China scores great achievements in pandemic prevention and control, Venezuela continues to draw from China’s experience as it has from the outset of the pandemic. President Nicolás Maduro Moros ordered a national quarantine, business closings and school suspensions immediately, and required experts to select medicines based on China’s research results which have had an effective influence, said Alvarado.

Venezuelan medical experts also asked the Chinese experts questions about such matters as use of steroid drugs, the effect of using plasma from convalescent patients as treatment, how to treat patients with renal failure, the use of non-invasive ventilators, prone ventilation, and whether recovered patients have immunity. Chinese experts answered the questions in detail.

Huang Mao, leader of the Chinese medial team, said that the team members learned about the local pandemic prevention situation and problems faced by Venezuelan medics through the session. They will continue to share China’s anti-pandemic experience with Venezuela experts and help them fight COVID-19.

The Chinese medical team arrived in Venezuela on March 30. Venezuelan president, vice-president and foreign affairs minister welcomed the team and expressed the country’s gratitude.
