Liu expressed gratitude to Malawi President Arthur Peter Mutharika and all sections of the Malawi society for their sympathy and support to China in its critical time fighting the COVID-19. With the strong leadership of the Chinese government and tenacious efforts by the Chinese people, the pandemic situation in China is in a successfully-contained phase.

The virus recognizes no nationalities and respects no borders, and is the common enemy of all humankind.

The Chinese government and the Chinese embassy to Malawi will continue providing support to Malawi within its capabilities, and hopes to return its favor to Malawi by donating anti-pandemic supplies, said Liu.

It is pleasing to notice that the Malawi government has adopted relevant anti-pandemic measures in a timely manner before there are confirmed cases in Malawi, said Liu, adding that the health and safety of Malawian people will be effectively guaranteed through cooperation of all sections of Malawi society and international support.

For his part, Chimulirenji thanked the Chinese government for providing anti-pandemic assistance to Malawi, and said that China is a true friend and good partner to Malawi.

The medical donations from China help ease Malawi’s emergent needs and provide strong support to Malawi’s pandemic prevention and control work, said Chimulirenji, adding that the pandemic prevention and control situation in Malawi is severe, and the Malawi government is trying its best to stem spread of the virus.

The medical supplies donated by China will be put to proper use, and Malawi stands ready to work with China in jointly combating the COVID-19, said Chimulirenji.
