Pakistan will prevail over the pandemic with China’s help, said Pakistani President Arif Alvi during his meeting with a Chinese medical expert team in Islamabad, capital of Pakistan, on April 8.
Alvi stressed that China achieved phased success in pandemic prevention and control in two months and immediately informed the World Health Organization and all countries when the outbreak began which bought precious time for the world’s fight against the virus.
He thanked China for providing large amounts of anti-pandemic supplies and sending medical experts to Pakistan to offer guidance in its anti-pandemic work which demonstrated the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and the two countries’ long-lasting profound friendship.
Ma Minghui, deputy head of the Xinjiang Medical Products Administration and head of the expert team, said that according to the consensus reach by the countries’ heads of state the Chinese medical team carried out anti-pandemic experience sharing and exchange with their Pakistani counterparts. The Chinese experts have gained a deeper understanding of Pakistan’s anti-pandemic work through field investigations, and believe that Pakistan will win the battle against the virus under the Pakistani government’s leadership.
In an interview after the meeting Alvi praised China’s anti-pandemic measures and confirmed his confidence in Pakistan’s victory over the pandemic with the help of China’s experience.
The Chinese medical expert team arrived in Pakistan on March 28. It has visited Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and several other cities to investigate several federal and local hospitals. The Chinese experts also carried out face-to-face and videoconference exchanges with their Pakistani counterparts.
