Chinese medical experts arrive in Moscow to help fight COVID-19

A Chinese medical expert team arrived in Moscow on April 11 with anti-pandemic supplies to assist Russia’s efforts in containing the virus.

Hao Huilong, leader of the expert team, said that China shall never forget the helping hand offered by Russia during China’s difficult times fighting the pandemic. As friendly neighbors, China and Russia enjoy a comprehensive and solidly grounded strategic partnership of coordination in the new era. China extends sympathy to Russia in its difficult fight against the pandemic, and stands ready to share its anti-pandemic experience with Russia, added Hao.

The arrival of the Chinese medical experts was warmly welcomed by the Russian people on social media VKontakte, who wrote comments to express their gratitude for China’s assistance.

The 10-member team includes experts specializing in laboratory testing, prevention and control of infectious diseases, respiratory diseases, intensive care and traditional Chinese medicine from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Heilongjiang Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and four hospitals in the province.

The experts will share experience with the Russian side and offer training for medics on the prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy to Russia.

Apart from that, the medical team will also hold videoconferences with representatives of overseas Chinese, enterprises and overseas students in Russia to introduce anti-pandemic measures and hand out medical supplies for them.
