Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros met with Chinese medical experts at the Miraflores Palace, Caracas, on April 8.
Maduro thanked China for its assistance and appreciated that the Chinese medical experts came from far away to share their anti-pandemic experience with their Venezuelan counterparts and improve the anti-pandemic measures in Venezuela. In the fight against the virus, Venezuela needs China’s help. The profound friendship between the peoples of the two countries has a solid humanitarian basis. Maduro also expressed firm confidence in the next phase of China’s fight against the virus.
Chinese Ambassador to Venezuela Li Baorong said at the meeting that the peoples of China and Venezuela are united at this difficult time. The Venezuelan people will win the battle against the COVID-19.

Huang Mao, head of the Chinese medical team, said that the team visited the Venezuelan departments of health, disease prevention and control as well as research and testing, and investigated the anti-pandemic measures in several hospitals and communities. The medical team carried out fruitful exchanges with their Venezuelan counterparts regarding disease prevention and control and treatment and will keep in close touch with the Venezuelan experts to support their fight against the virus.
The eight-member Chinese medical team, organized by the National Health Commission of China, came from Jiangsu and arrived in Venezuela on March 30. Their expertise includes respiratory and critical care, infectious disease control and laboratory testing.
