Chinese medical team arrives in Ethiopia

A Chinese medical team arrived in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia on April 16. 

The Ethiopian Minister of Health, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and the Chinese ambassador to Ethiopia welcomed the medical team at the airport.

The team was sent by the Health Commission of Sichuan province. The first medical team sent by the Chinese government to Africa, it will work in Ethiopia for 15 days.

The team’s 15 members are experts in the fields of general surgical diseases, epidemic diseases, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, severe diseases and laboratory tests,as well as the integration of traditional Chinese and western medicine.

Together with the experts are some urgently needed medical supplies such as protective equipment and traditional Chinese medicine which has been tested in clinical practice.

During their stay in Ethiopia, the medical team will share and exchange experience with Ethiopian medical institutions and experts, introduce China's experience in fighting the epidemic, and carry out technical exchanges and cooperation with the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Office of the World Health Organization in Ethiopia.
