Republic of Congo receives aid from China to fight COVID-19

A presentation and distribution ceremony of anti-pandemic supplies donated by the Chinese government to the Congolese government was held in Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo on April 16. 

Ma Fulin, the Chinese ambassador to the Republic of Congo, and Jacqueline Lydia Mikolo, health minister of the Republic of Congo, attended the ceremony.

Ma said that China and the Republic of Congo are good partners and brothers who share weal and woe. China donates anti-pandemic materials to Congo while itself still facing great pressure to fight against the pandemic, which demonstrates the profound friendship between the two countries. He added that the current shipment is not the first and will not be the last.

Ma also stressed that the pandemic is a common challenge facing all mankind. Any attempt to undermine or alienate international cooperation against the pandemic is doomed to failure.

Mikolo said that the pandemic in Congo is spreading rapidly, and materials for its prevention are running out. Chinese medical supplies with high standard and good quality will play a positive role in the anti-pandemic work in her country.

She said that China not only provides medical supplies to Congo, but also shares anti-pandemic experience, and provides intellectual support through videoconferences held without reservation. In addition, the professional guidance from Sichuan epidemic prevention experts and the active participation of the Chinese medical team provide important assistance. On behalf of the Congolese government, she expressed sincere gratitude to China.
