Chinese medical experts arrive in Burkina Faso to help fight COIVD-19

At the invitation of the government of Burkina Faso，Chinese medical experts arrived in Ouagadougou, the country’s capital, on April 16. The expert team also brought a batch of anti-pandemic supplies.

The 12-member team mainly comes from the People’s Hospital of Tianjin and the Tianjin Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The experts specialize in respiratory, intensive care, internal medicine, hospital infection control, traditional Chinese medicine, imaging, laboratory testing, epidemiology, disinfection and nursing.

The team is scheduled to work in Burkina Faso for two weeks, carry out anti-pandemic experience sharing and training with local counterparts based on the actual situation in Burkina Faso, promote protection measures among citizens and provide guidance in various fields applicable to pandemic prevention and control.

On behalf of President Roch Marc Christian Kabore and the government of Burkina Faso, Lougue thanked the Chinese government and the Chinese people for their precious support. The Chinese medical experts brought Burkina Faso rich anti-pandemic experience and will enhance its capability in combating the virus.

Burkina Faso is one of the countries hit hardest by the virus in sub-Saharan Africa.

As of April 15, Burkina Faso has reported 546 confirmed cases, among them seven government ministers. The pandemic prevention and control work is under great pressure throughout the country.
