Chinese government donates medical supplies to Burkina Faso

Medical supplies donated by the Chinese government arrived in Burkina Faso on April 16, following the arrival of the Chinese medical expert team.

Li Jian, the Chinese ambassador to Burkina Faso, Wen Wen, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Burkina Faso, and more than 20 Burkinabe officials attended the handover ceremony, including Zagré, the director of the General Office of the Burkinabe President.

Li said that with the support and help of a large number of countries including Burkina Faso China has had great success in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. China always bears in mind Burkina Faso’s support.

Construction of isolation wards in the China-aided hospital in Burkina Faso was officially started on April 15, which will alleviate Burkina Faso’s problem of inadequate treatment capacity.

The twelve Chinese medical experts who arrived in Burkina Faso will carry out experience exchange, technical guidance, knowledge popularization and other work for two weeks, while the medical supplies from the Chinese government will help the local medical workers to strengthen self-protection and reduce the risk of infection, according to Li

China supports Burkina Faso in various ways in fighting the pandemic, which not only demonstrates its sense of responsibility as a responsible country but also proves the continuous consolidation of China-Burkina Faso relations in the past two years.

In addition, China expressed its gratitude to the World Food Program for assistance in transferring the medical supplies.

Zagré said that President Kaboré highly appreciates China's continuous and strong support in Burkina Faso’s fight against the pandemic.

He added that the medical supplies donated by the Chinese government not only relive the shortage of medical supplies but also boost Burkina Faso’s confidence in fighting the pandemic. 

He expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the President and his belief that Burkina Faso will win the battle against the pandemic with help from China.
