Medical supplies donated by the Chinese government arrived in Conakry, capital of Guinea, on April 18.

Chinese Ambassador to Guinea Huang Wei, Guinean Minister of Cooperation and Africa Integration Djene Keita and Minister of Health Colonel Remy Lamah attended the handover ceremony.

Huang said that the virus is spreading around the world. The international community should enhance cooperation and unity with firm confidence. Though still faced with risks of imported cases and potential domestic rebounds, China overcome difficulties to provide assistance within its capacity to the African people, including those of Guinea. China will strengthen cooperation with African countries and stand firmly with their people in defeating the virus.

On behalf of President Alpha Condé and the Guinean people, Keita thanked China for providing brotherly assistance at this critical time by saying “Xiexie” (means thanks in Chinese), and hailed China’s selfless help to Guinea and its role as a model in global pandemic prevention and control.

Lamah stressed that the medical supplies are in great shortage at this severe moment in pandemic prevention and control, and China’s assistance is just in time. The health agencies thanked China for providing the medical supplies and will optimize usage of the supplies to improve the country’s anti-pandemic capability.
