China donates medical supplies to Gambia

A new batch of medical supplies donated by the Chinese government arrived at Banjul International Airport in Banjul, capital of the Gambia, on April 20.

The medical supplies include 2,000 N95 masks, 10,000 medical masks, 2,000 protective suits, 2,000 goggles, 10,000 pairs of disposable gloves, 10,000 pairs of shoe covers, and 500 infrared thermometers.

In his speech, Ma said that China highly appreciated the strong and urgent measures taken by the Gambian government to effectively prevent the spread of the epidemic in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The situation in China keeps changing for the better, he said, adding that while making every effort to prevent and control the pandemic, the Chinese government has worked in an orderly manner to promote the resumption of production and maintain the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

On this basis, China is also striving to share positive experience and necessary material assistance to other countries in their fight against the pandemic, so as to contribute its part to the global anti-virus battle and stabilize the global economy, he added.

Tangara expressed his sincere thanks to the Chinese government and people for the new donation of urgently needed anti-epidemic supplies in the critical period of fighting the pandemic in the country and highly appreciated the good cooperation and close communication between the two countries since the outbreak of the pandemic.

He said the virus is a common enemy of all mankind and it is imperative for the international community to cooperate in the anti-epidemic fight. The Gambian side is ready to deepen cooperation with China and other developing countries to overcome difficulties and conquer the virus at an early date.
