CIDCA| Updated: 2020-04-22

China transferred medical supplies to the government of Chile on April 21.

The medical supplies included masks, protective clothing and infrared thermometers.

At the handover ceremony, the Chinese Ambassador to Chile Xu Bu said that since the pandemic broke out, China and Chile have supported and maintained close communications with each other. The leaders of the two countries reached important consensus on anti-pandemic cooperation. Medical experts from both countries held videoconferences on anti-pandemic cooperation, with Chinese medical experts sharing their experience in pandemic prevention and control.

Xu stressed that the virus is the common enemy of all mankind. Only with solidarity and cooperation can the world achieve a final victory against the pandemic. He believed that under the leadership of Chilean President Sebastian Pinera Echenique and its government Chile will eventually defeat the virus with solidarity from all sections of its society.

Chilean Health Minister Jaime Manalich said that since the virus outbreak the Chinese government in addition to donating medical supplies has timely released relevant information including the genome sequencing of the virus and shared its anti-pandemic experience with Chile.

On behalf of the Chilean government and people, Manalich expressed sincere gratitude to China for its support. The donations made by the Chinese government to Chile demonstrate the profound friendship between the two countries. China’s assistance is vital to Chile’s fight against the pandemic. Chile stands ready to work with China in deepening their anti-pandemic cooperation and defeating the virus at an early date.
