Xu Kun, interim charge d'affaires of the Chinese embassy in Liberia, attended a donation ceremony of anti-pandemic materials provided by the Chinese government on April 23.
Xu said that China bears in mind that when it was fighting the epidemic, Liberia offered its support. China and Liberia are good brothers, friends and partners who help each other and share weal and woe.
He said as the pressure on Liberia's pandemic prevention and control has increased dramatically, China is willing to work with Liberia to overcome difficulties, although China still has its own tasks of pandemic prevention.
Liberian Foreign Minister Gbehzohngar Milton Findley said that Liberia thanks the Chinese government for its continuous assistance.
Findley said Liberia is ready to work with China to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields and looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with China in pandemic prevention.
The two countries joined hands to fight Ebola back in 2014.
On behalf of the Liberia's health ministry and medical workers, Liberian Health Minister Wilhelmina Jallah expressed gratitude for the support and assistance from the Chinese government as well as the Jack Ma Foundation, Alibaba Foundation and the oversea Chinese in Liberia in the country's fight against COVID-19.
He said that after the outbreak of the pandemic, China held videoconferences with African countries to share anti-pandemic experience without any reservation, which provided important information enabling Liberia to do a good job in pandemic prevention and control.
In addition, China's anti-pandemic supplies arriving in Liberia are timely assistance and have provided Liberia with strong support to fight the pandemic.
The Liberian people deeply appreciate that China responded positively to the Liberian needs in pandemic prevention, Jallah said.
