Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa spoke highly of China's efforts in supporting and helping Zimbabwe in the fight against COVID-19 at a donation ceremony in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, on April 23.

He said that China has provided Zimbabwe with a lot of support and assistance since the COVID-19 outbreak in Zimbabwe. More importantly, China's support and help are tangible, and China is still trying to find ways to provide Zimbabwe with substantial support and assistance. He expressed his sincere gratitude to China.

Guo Shaochun, the Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, attended the ceremony and said that China will continue to donate more medical supplies to Zimbabwe. In addition, a medical team of ten Chinese experts will soon arrive in Zimbabwe to help in the fight against the pandemic.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Zimbabwe, China has completed upgrading and renovation of designated hospitals in Harare. Chinese enterprises are also anticipated to donate protective clothing, masks, goggles, traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine to Zimbabwe.

In addition, the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe has donated protective equipment to the country, and members of the Chinese medical team have also conducted three special trainings for officials of the Ministry of Health of Zimbabwe and medical workers in many places throughout the country, focusing on introducing preventive measures and sharing China’s prevention and treatment plans and successful experience.

The Zimbabwean president and several ministers said that the virus cannot stop the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, who firmly believe that they will soon win the battle against the pandemic.
