Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea thanks China for helping fight COVID-19

On June 3, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, prime minister of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, expressed gratitude to the Chinese medical experts and spoke highly of China-African cooperation in the joint fight against the COVID-19 during a meeting with the experts.

Asue thanked China for sending the medical expert team to the country and said that it brought hope to the fight against the virus, and spoke highly of China's cooperation with international society, and particularly with Africa, in the battle against COVID-19.

China’s anti-pandemic cooperation with other countries is positive, and China is an indispensable, honest and reliable partner, said Asue, adding that he appreciates that China has spared no effort to share its COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment experience with other countries.

Asue added that through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative China has advanced many projects to promote African nations' development. For this, the African people are grateful.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Equatorial Guinea 50 years ago, the two sides have grown a sincere friendship through cooperation, and their relationship is the model of South-South Cooperation. China has helped Equatorial Guinea's development in various fields such as health, infrastructure facilities, education and training, electricity and water supply, said Asue.

Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Qi Mei said that the arrival of the Chinese medical expert team to exchange anti-pandemic experience with their counterparts in Equatorial Guinea epitomizes the friendly cooperation between China and Equatorial Guinea over the past 50 years. He said he hopes that the arrival of the Chinese experts will enhance local people’s confidence in defeating the virus and deepen the two countries' friendship. China will continue to cooperate with Equatorial Guinea and jointly fight COVID-19.

The Chinese medical team that arrived in Malabo, the country's capital, on May 25 includes 12 experts in respiratory care, infectious disease, intensive care, Infection control, public health, laboratory testing and nursing.
