On July 23, 2020, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in his summary speech at the Special Video Conference of China and Latin American and Caribbean Countries' Foreign Ministers on COVID-19, having gone through twists and turns in the past six decades, China's relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries have withstood all tests and will not move backward because of some temporary difficulties. Our relations will open up new prospects with renewed vigor and vitality when we join hands to cope with challenges.

Wang Yi noted, we share the view that COVID-19 is a common challenge for mankind, and the international community can only contain and prevail over it when working together. We all stress staunch support for multilateralism, the United Nations, the World Health Organization, free trade and international cooperation. We share the view that expanding cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries carries great significance for both sides to control the spread of the pandemic, safeguard people's health and security and get the economy and society back to normal. We are ready to actively expand our cooperation to public health, poverty alleviation, disaster relief and digital economy, while exploring new cooperation opportunities in the "post-pandemic era", so as to boost the sustainable economic growth and social progress, and ensure the strong momentum of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries.
