Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira on Aug 26.

Zhou welcomed Pereira’s visit and said that China and Cuba are good friends, comrades and brothers. The two countries have supported and helped each other, and stood together with mutual assistance amid difficulties in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China will take the opportunity to further deepen development cooperation with Cuba and promote greater results in the Sino-Cuban friendship, added Zhou.

Pereira spoke highly of the achievements made by the CIDCA and thanked China for its strong support in many areas especially in the fight against the virus.

China’s invaluable help came when the Cuban people needed it most. Cuba stands ready to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with China in all areas and take the bilateral relationship to a higher level, said Pereira.

The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects.
