Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Afghan Ambassador to China Javid Ahmad Qaem on Aug 28.
Deng said that China and Afghanistan are good neighbors and traditional friends. Afghanistan has suffered from war for a long time, and China feels keenly about that and sincerely hopes Afghanistan will end the war and achieve peace at an early date.
China is willing to provide assistance as its ability allows to help Afghanistan fight the COVID-19 pandemic and advance peaceful reconstruction. The CIDCA stands ready to maintain close communication with Afghanistan to better implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and jointly promote the deepening of China-Afghanistan development cooperation, added Deng.
Qaem thanked China for providing medical supplies and food assistance to Afghanistan and spoke highly of China’s strong support to the country’s economic and social development. Afghanistan is willing to work together with China to promote bilateral development cooperation to achieve continuous progress.
The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects.
