Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a videoconference with Burkina Faso's Foreign Minister Alpha Barry on Sept 3.
Zhou said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Burkina Faso, the two sides have actively implemented the consensus reached by the two heads of state and have achieved remarkable results in development cooperation in the fields of agriculture, medical care, education and infrastructure.
Especially this year in the face of the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the people of the two countries stood together and supported each other in the joint fight against the virus, fully demonstrating their profound friendship.
China stands ready to deepen development cooperation with Burkina Faso, make new positive contributions to the continuous development of friendly relations of the two countries and achieve good results both in the anti-pandemic fight and bilateral cooperation in various fields, added Zhou.
Barry thanked China for providing selfless assistance and support to Burkina Faso’s economic and social development, highly commended the fruitful results achieved since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to China for providing immediate and effective assistance to help the country fight the virus.
Burkina Faso is willing to continue to maintain close cooperation with China and jointly promote bilateral relations to a new level.
The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects.
Chinese Ambassador to Burkina Faso Li Jian also attended the meeting.
