CIDCA vice-chairman holds videoconference with head of ESCO

Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a videoconference with Carla de Palma, head of the El Salvador Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO), via video link on Sept 11, 2020.

Zhou said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2018, bilateral ties have developed rapidly with remarkable results in development cooperation.

Over the past year, the two sides have actively implemented the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries during El Salvador's President Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez’s visit to China, overcome the difficulties caused by COVID-19 and promoted major bilateral cooperation projects to achieve positive results.

The consensus further enhanced the two countries’ mutual trust and strengthened bilateral cooperation. China stands ready to continue to deepen development cooperation with El Salvador to contribute to the steady and long-term growth of friendship between the two countries, added Zhou.

Palma thanked the Chinese government for providing selfless assistance and support to El Salvador’s fight against the pandemic and economic and social development. There are huge potentials in bilateral cooperation in the future. The country is willing to maintain close cooperation with China and jointly advance the agreed projects to strive for early results.

The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation.

Huang Kunyu, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in El Salvador, and relevant officials from El Salvador attended the meeting.
