Wang Xiaotao, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a videoconference with Koney Samuel, secretary for the Department of National Planning and Monitoring (DNPM) of Papua New Guinea (PNG), and Dairi Vele, secretary of the PNG Treasury Department, on Sept 25.
Wang said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and PNG the two countries’ bilateral relations have developed rapidly and remarkable results have been achieved in bilateral development cooperation.
In recent years, the two sides have actively implemented the important consensuses reached by the leaders of the two countries and worked together and helped each other in promoting cooperative projects and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, fully demonstrating their profound friendship. China stands ready to continue to carry out in-depth development cooperation and make positive contributions to the consolidation and development of friendly bilateral relations with PNG, added Wang.
The PNG side thanked the Chinese government for its selfless assistance and support for the country's economic and social development, and especially its immediate and effective anti-pandemic assistance. PNG is willing to continue to work closely with China to strengthen coordination and achieve common development.
The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation.
