Wang Xiaotao, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a videoconference with Filippo Grandi, head of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), on Dec 8.
They exchanged views on strengthening bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
Wang said that the CIDCA and the UNHCR have successfully carried out cooperation projects in recent years and actively contributed to safeguarding the rights and interests of vulnerable groups such as refugees.
China is making all out efforts to implement the important measures it declared on supporting international anti-pandemic cooperation. Focusing on the fight against COVID-19 and the post-pandemic economic and social development, China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the UNHCR and other international organizations in helping other developing countries and vulnerable groups cope with survival and development challenges, jointly promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and advancing the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, added Wang.
Grandi said that the UNHCR and the CIDCA have carried out fruitful cooperation under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund, and have provided various types of assistance to refugees and displaced people in relevant countries. The UNHCR is grateful for the active support provided by the CIDCA, and hopes the two sides can further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, explore and implement more projects in humanitarian assistance, and continue to contribute to the promotion of global sustainable development.
