China, Tunisia sign hospital handover certificates

Zhang said that since the beginning of this year China and Tunisia have looked out for and helped each other and faced the challenges imposed by the pandemic together. At the critical moment in the fight against the pandemic, the smooth operation and functioning of a China-aided hospital gives special significance to the friendly exchanges between the two countries. 

The hospital is by far China’s largest aid project to Tunisia and a model of pragmatic cooperation between China and Tunisia. China is willing to provide more anti-pandemic assistance to Tunisia as its ability allows, enriching bilateral cooperation results and improving cooperation levels, added Zhang. 

Mehdi said that China started to dispatch medical teams to Tunisia in the 1970s, and the two countries have carried out practical cooperation in the health field. Tunisia is currently hit by the second wave of the pandemic, and its medical resources are overwhelmed. Against that background, the China-aided hospital will be used as a designated hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The hospital is a timely help and strong support for Tunisia’s fight against the pandemic. Tunisia sincerely thanks the Chinese government and people for their selfless assistance.
