The signing ceremony of a China-aided slaughterhouse in Sudan was held at the Sudanese Finance Ministry on Dec 10.

Chinese Ambassador to Sudan Ma Xinmin and Sudan's Acting Finance Minister Hiba Mohamed Ali addressed the ceremony.

In his speech, Ma said that the project is a key one in China-Sudan bilateral strategic agricultural cooperation. It will greatly facilitate Sudan's efforts to build a modern animal husbandry industry chain and significantly boost the country’s economic development while improving the lives of Sudanese farmers and herdsmen.

China-Sudan friendship spans more than half a century, and is as strong as ever. In the 61 years since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, China’s assistance to and practical cooperation with Sudan have blossomed everywhere, bringing tangible benefits to the people of Sudan and forging deep friendship between the peoples of the two countries, added Ma.

Ma said that the signing of the agreement marks an important step towards the successful construction of a China-aided slaughterhouse, and is a new major achievement in the practical cooperation between China and Sudan, and he hoped that the two countries will continue to implement follow-up work in the spirit of win-win cooperation and strive to make the project benefit the people of Sudan as soon as possible. China is willing to provide assistance to Sudan as its ability allows, promoting continuous development of bilateral relations and jointly creating a better future for China-Sudan cooperation.

Ali thanked the Chinese government for its selfless assistance to Sudan in all areas, and said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sudan in 1959 the bilateral relations have stayed as strong as ever. The Chinese government has provided economic and technical assistance to Sudan since 1970, completed many major projects for Sudan, and played an important role in promoting Sudan’s economic development. In particular, China-Sudan oil cooperation since 1995 has promoted the prosperous development of bilateral economic and trade relations.

She added that the slaughterhouse project will greatly promote the development of Sudan’s livestock industry and improve the bilateral trade structure. Sudan stands ready to work with China to promote the successful implementation of the project, and is willing to continue to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with China and to ensure bilateral relations maintain stability in the long run.
